Vintage Pet Rescue is a Rhode Island-based adoption agency dedicated to rescuing and rehoming senior and special-needs dogs. Over the past year, the organization has experienced significant growth\u2014and with that, they wanted a thoughtful, visually engaging way to celebrate their progress and thank their supporters. I was brought in to design their annual report, and it became one of the most heartwarming and rewarding projects I\u2019ve worked on.<\/p>\n

From the start, I was welcomed into the Vintage Pet Rescue community. I visited their space, met the dogs, and got a feel for the heart and humor that drives the organization. This in-person experience gave me a deep understanding of who they are, not just as a nonprofit, but as a family.<\/p>\n

Design Approach<\/h4>\n

The report was designed with Vintage Pet Rescue\u2019s existing brand guidelines in mind, maintaining consistency with their colors, fonts, and tone. While the branding served as a foundation, I was given creative freedom to explore playful elements that reflected the spirit of the organization.<\/p>\n

Initially, I experimented with a range of dog-themed visuals\u2014collars, floppy ears, bones, and more. But as the design evolved, we realized that too many elements distracted from the core message: celebrating the organization\u2019s impact. We ultimately landed on a clean, engaging layout featuring scattered dog bones as a playful, yet restrained motif. This subtle visual cue kept the design charming without overwhelming the data or narrative.<\/p>\n

The final report balanced professionalism and personality\u2014honoring the growth of the organization while still capturing the joy of the dogs at the heart of their mission. The team loved how it turned out, and it served as a heartfelt thank-you to their supporters while reinforcing their identity as a warm, trustworthy, and impactful rescue.<\/p>\n
